Converge ICT Solutions Inc., an Internet service provider, has revealed a security compromise, while it claims it has “no proof” that its subscribers’ personal information has been abused.

Converge said in an email to a subscriber seen by Philstar.com that a security breach in the customer dashboard of its GoFiber application, which customers can use to pay their bills and monitor their internet usage, involved personal information such as birthdate, full name, maiden name of their mother, mobile number, email, service address, province, and municipality registered in its system.
On March 4, the listed ISP confirmed the intrusion and claimed it is still “analyzing the data being given.” According to Philstar.com, the company reported the occurrence the same day and is now being investigated by the National Privacy Commission’s compliance and monitoring team.
“Since the discovery of this event, we, together with our accredited third-party developer, have implemented additional validation in the system to address the security breach and to strengthen the GoFiber app security. By doing so, users of the GoFiber app are assured that only they can retrieve account information linked to their registered account”, according to the ISP.
“We wish to assure you that the personal information of our customers are always protected with confidentiality, security measures are in place, and your passwords remain intact and secure.” it continued.
Converge did not say how many customers were affected by the hack, but it did say in a statement to journalists that “this is an isolated issue affecting a small fraction of our client base.” The business advised those affected not to disclose personal or financial information to anyone purporting to be a representative of Converge and contacting them using their personal information.
“We sincerely apologize to our customers who were affected by this incident and the concern that this may have caused the public,” Converge added.
During the epidemic, Converge witnessed an increase in clients as more Filipinos began working from home. It said its domestic network would stretch 55,000 kilometers by the end of 2020, including 300 cities and municipalities across Luzon and reaching roughly 6.1 million residences.
