YouTube has just announced that background playback will be available for free in the YouTube Music app. Starting November 3, 2021, the new feature will be available in Canada.
Background playback was previously exclusively available to YouTube Premium subscribers. People can now listen to music even after they exit the YouTube Music app thanks to this upgrade.
According to YouTube, this free version will be ad-supported and will provide a “radio-like” experience. Furthermore, the company claims that customised playlists and personalized mixes would be available to users. For a hands-free YouTube Music experience, Google Assistant driving mode will be accessible.
