Globe puts up 1 million fiber lines ahead of schedule

Globe Telecom Inc. has met its goal of laying one million fiber lines this year three months ahead of schedule.

The achievement, according to Globe, strengthens the company’s bid to make connectivity more pervasive and accessible to households and businesses in more areas.

“Despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, all of our regional teams delivered big numbers, particularly in Luzon, which helped us meet our goal. With rollouts underway, we expect to keep the momentum going until the end of the year,” said Joel Agustin, Globe senior vice president for program delivery, network technical group.

Fiber internet allows customers to send data at much higher bandwidths, download or upload large files much faster, stream high-definition videos and webinars, and run multiple online programs at the same time.

Globe’s capital spending program of P76 billion will support the deployment of one million fiber-to-the-home lines this year.

The company invested P43.3 billion in the first half to improve its network infrastructure and internet connectivity.

Globe stated that its aggressive network expansion and network modernization are part of the company’s strategy to make high-speed connectivity available to all and to move the Philippines closer to becoming a digital nation.

Aside from adding more fiber lines, Globe said it is also making services more affordable to customers with its UNLI Fiber UP 1499 plan, which offers speeds of up to 35 Mbps.

“The goal of this promotion is to support the online needs of the entire family’s new normal.” “As a result, each member can attend school, work, and other online activities from the comfort of their own home,” it explained.
