Xiaomi announces Xiaomi Pilot Technology

Xiaomi has officially announced the creation of its Xiaomi Pilot Technology. The business aims to invest RMB 3.3 billion in the first phase of its autonomous driving technology in the first R&D and staffing update since announcing its entry into the smart electric car industry in March 20221.

Xiaomi also presented a live road test video of its autonomous driving technology during a press conference, displaying its powerful algorithms and capacity to handle a wide range of circumstances.
“Xiaomi’s autonomous driving technology uses a self-developed whole stack strategy, and the project has progressed beyond expectations,” stated Lei Jun, Xiaomi Group’s founder, chairman, and CEO.

Xiaomi’s test vehicle demonstrated accurate, safe, and intelligent assisted driving in a variety of scenarios, including U-turns, roundabouts, and continuous downhill driving, in a demonstration video.

Xiaomi’s autonomous driving team presented an innovative auto-parking solution that includes scenarios such as “reserved parking spaces,” “automated valet parking,” and “automatic robotic arm charging,” with a focus on parking. Other parking lot services will be made available in the future, and a mix of AI and service-oriented features will be added to comply with relevant national laws and regulations.

In the first phase of its autonomous driving technology research, Xiaomi intends to build a fleet of 140 test vehicles. They will be individually tested with the goal of becoming an industry leader in the smart EV sector by 2024.
