Philippines is ranked 80th in the world's most powerful passport for 2022

The Henley Passport Index: Global Passport Ranking 2022 places the Philippine passport as the 80th most effective in the world, granting visa-free travel to 67 different countries.

According on the number of places passport holders can visit without a visa, the Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports from across the world.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA), one of the largest travel information databases, is the foundation for the data, which has been improved by the research team at Henley & Partners.

The Philippines moved up three positions from last year’s index, where the 83rd-most potent passport with 65 destinations was held by the country. The passport’s position has since dropped from 2020, when it was ranked 74th globally in the same index.

With the same number of destinations, the Philippines also shares the 80th slot with the Cape Verde Islands and Uganda.

According to the ranking, Japan has the most useful passports, with 193 destinations, followed by Singapore and South Korea with 192, Germany and Spain with 190, and Singapore and South Korea.
