Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. The chipset is manufactured on a 4nm technology, making it the first midrange chipset to do so.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has a 2.4GHz maximum clock speed and is equipped with an Adreno 662 GPU. The chipset replaces the previous Snapdragon 778G and claims to be 20% faster at handling graphics than its predecessor. The company also claims that AI can speed up tasks by 30%.
Qualcomm packs a lot of features inside the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, including capability for 200MP pictures, thanks to the new manufacturing process. Qualcomm also claims that the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 supports 4K HDR video recording, 10-bit HEIC photo capture, and HEVC video recording in addition to 200MP captures.

The Snapdragon X62 5G modem, which can handle download speeds of up to 4.4 Gbps and dual 5G standby connectivity, is included in the latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Snapdragon Sound, and aptX compatibility are all supported.

The first Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 powered phones are expected to be released soon, maybe starting with the OPPO Reno 8 series.
