New dating app ‘Spark’ officially released

Alex Hofman, the former president of mucical.ly (now TikTok), has launched a new dating app called Spark.

Spark isn’t like any other popular dating app where you swipe left or right to locate a’match.’ Instead, users will view all of the people in their immediate vicinity in a grid, similar to Grindr. Unlike Grindr, though, users can only send and receive messages if they liked or “sparked” at each other. Another thing to keep in mind is that, similar to Bumble, the message request will only be valid for 24 hours.

The app is free, but users can pay for special features like seeing who liked them or getting more “sparks” by subscribing. The pricing and perks are still being worked out, but it’s now $19.99 USD each month, with a slight reduction if you subscribe for three or twelve months.

Spark has already been soft released in a number of countries, and it quickly rose to the top of the iOS app store in the Netherlands and Ireland.

After musical.ly was sold by ByteDance for about $1 billion in 2018, Hofman left the firm and became an investor, albeit he returned to app development by founding 9count, which includes apps like Helpline, Juju, Everland, and the friendship app Wink, which has millions of users.

Because of the trend of digital businesses creating or acquiring a variety of goods, they’ve decided to launch an app for adults aged 18 and above, which is a step up from their present popular Wink, which is aimed for users aged 13 and up.
