On August 1, 2022, Facebook’s Nearby Friends, Weather Alerts, Location History, and Background Location features will no longer be available.
According to Facebook, the aforementioned services will be discontinued on May 31, 2022. Even if you previously enabled Location History and Background Location, the information you gave that was used for these experiences will no longer be collected after May 31, 2022.
You can browse and download your Facebook Location History until August 1, 2022. Any previously shared Location History or Background Location information will be removed after that.
Nearby Friends is a feature on Facebook that allows you to share your current location with your friends, while Weather Alerts display in your notifications and provide you with current weather conditions in your region.
