Xiaomi is finally dropping the ‘Mi’ moniker after a decade of use.
This shift in branding began with Xiaomi’s newly introduced MIX 4 smartphone, and a Xiaomi spokesman confirmed to XDA Developers that the company would no longer use the “Mi” branding on future products.
Since its initial smartphone, the Mi 1, Xiaomi has utilized the name ‘Mi.’ Furthermore, the ‘Mi’ logo appears on most of its products, including tablets, laptops, wearables, and other IoT devices. For new Xiaomi devices, however, this will alter, and the company will refer to itself as “Xiaomi.”
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has not stated a precise explanation for dropping the ‘Mi’ trademark.
