DOST-PHIVOLCS released the mobile application “VolcanoPH Info” on Monday to commemorate the institute’s 69th anniversary.

In a Facebook live press conference, the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology announced the app’s availability.
The primary goal of the VolcanoPH Info app, according to a press release issued by the department earlier this week, is to provide people with convenient access to volcano bulletins and warnings via their Android devices.
The list of volcanoes with active alert levels can be seen in the VolcanoPH Info app. Users who touch on a specific volcano will be supplied with a 24-hour observation report summary and recommendations in Filipino.
There is also access to further information about the volcano, including alert level schemes, danger maps, preparedness manuals, a vocabulary of volcanology and seismology terms, and bulletin archives.
The information in the app would come straight from the PHIVOLCS-Local Active Volcano Archive or the Volcano Monitoring Database, which would then be posted to the VolcanoPH Info app by a duty officer in volcano monitoring.
Furthermore, the program includes fact-checking, which can assist users in identifying bogus advisories that employ the DOST-PHIVOLCS format.
However, the original edition of VolcanoPH Info can only display volcanoes with an Alert Level 1 or higher status. Mounts Bulusan, Kanlaon, Mayon, Pinatubo, and Taal are among them.
In addition, information about volcanoes at Alert Level 1 will only display infographics, while details about volcanoes at Alert Levels 2 and above will also display daily textual bulletins.
In the future, other volcanoes that are watched, such as Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Isarog, will be included in the app.
