Realme has been named the top smartphone brand in the Philippines by Canalys and IDC for the first quarter of 2021

Realme, a three-year-old brand in the Philippines, continues to develop.

Realme, a three-year-old company, was the top brand in the Philippines in terms of smartphone shipments in Q1 2021, according to two smartphone market research agencies, Canalys and IDC.

Both Canalys and IDC have reported differing figures, but both are confident in declaring Realme the winner. Realme has a 23 percent market share, according to Canalys, and 21.3 percent according to IDC.

According to the two companies, the increase in numbers is attributed to the expanding number of Realme physical storefronts, particularly outside of Manila.

According to IDC’s analysis, OPPO (the previous quarter’s winner) has dropped to second place after a 44.7 percent quarter-on-quarter loss. Thanks to the Galaxy A-series, Samsung has climbed to second place.

Transsion, a joint venture between Infinix and TECNO Mobile, targeted the entry-level market and came in fourth. Finally, Xiaomi climbed to fifth place after a 3x increase in sales from the previous year.

Xiaomi beat Vivo and Huawei to the top place by improving its online and retail presence. POCO, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, continues to flourish, accounting for 15% of all Xiaomi shipments.
