The Like count has been a test feature on Instagram and Facebook over the past year, with the functionality being made public during the Facebook/Instagram epidemic. As part of its latest Instagram updates, the social media platform will introduce counters again, but the public will still control what they view.
The first option is to make all posts on the News Feed invisible counts. Focusing on photographs and videos instead of on the popularity of a post allows you to be more creative. You can find the toggle in the new Privacy section in Settings -> Posts, and it takes effect immediately.
If you like, you can turn off count and thumbs-up counts on your postings, but they will have to flip the switch themselves. Also, every post has to be deactivated if the numbers are concealed across the entire profile.
According to Instagram, people’s experiences on the platform have shifted negatively, as they report that some felt it was gloomy. In contrast, others looked to like counts to discover what is now popular or in-demand. Creators were similarly divided about the decision, so the site eventually let users decide: whether they would be public or private, whether they would be validated or not.
