OOKLA - Globe Network Consistency Score Improves; Maintains Winning Gaming Standards in Latency

Globe’s mobile services are improving as the company continues to roll out and modernize its network to 4G LTE and 5G in more areas around the Globe.

According to Ookla® data from Q1 2021, the telco’s nationwide consistency score has risen to over 70%. Globe’s highest performance was over 76 percent in Metro Manila, while impressive percentages were also noted in Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Cebu City, and Davao City.

The percentage of tests completed at or above a certain speed is known as the consistency score. The global consistency score benchmark is set at 80%.

Globe also increased latency, with an average of 33 milliseconds in the first quarter2, well below the 60 milliseconds set by gamers as the winning norm.

The amount of time it takes for information to travel from its source to its intended destination is latency. It is preferable to have a lower latency rate.

“We will keep on improving the network experience of our customers in line with our aspiration of having a #1stWorldNetwork in the country,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and Chief Executive Officer.

This year, Globe plans to construct at least 2,000 new cell sites and finish installing at least one million fiber-to-the-home cables.

According to Globe, the removal of obstacles to the right of way by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) would help speed up the construction of fiber and other network networks along national roads. Customers who use mobile data would have a better network experience as a result of this.

Globe is a strong supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 9, which emphasizes the importance of infrastructure and innovation as drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is dedicated to upholding the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the ten UN Sustainable Development Goals.
