Bluetooth 6 has officially been announced by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The recent update brings enhancements in precision tracking and boosts overall security.
The update enhances filtering and efficiency, reducing the strain on the device's battery life. A new feature called Channel Sounding has been introduced, allowing for centimeter-level accuracy in determining the distance between two devices.
Channel Sounding utilises phase-based ranging to transmit radio signals between two devices operating at different frequencies. This allows new technology to measure the distance between two points.
The feature will soon be integrated with “Find My Devices.” This aims to enhance location tracking for companies such as Apple, Google, and Samsung. Additionally, using digital keys helps to tackle security issues effectively. It ensures that devices unlock only within a designated range.
However, the details regarding the integration of Bluetooth 6 in newer devices are still pending. We will inform readers about the availability of the latest Bluetooth version.
