Meta is now giving you the option to pay for a subscription on Facebook and Instagram. This subscription will remove the ads that appear on both platforms.

To meet the privacy rules set by European data laws like the Digital Markets Act and GDPR, Meta has implemented this method.
You can choose to pay for the service and not see targeted ads, or you can use the service for free but agree to let us collect your data.
As a result of this update, Meta will no longer collect data from users who pay for any advertising tracking purposes.
You can currently access it in Europe for EUR 9.99 per month using a web browser. The price increases to EUR 12.99 per month on iOS and Android because of extra charges on those platforms.
It’s not clear if ads will show up on mobile devices if you only paid for a web subscription, or the other way around.
Even if you pay for the subscription, the free versions of Facebook and Instagram will still be the same. Users don’t need to be concerned about extra advertisements. And they can still use the tools available to customize their ad experience according to their preferences.
Meta now offers a subscription that removes ads from their platform. This subscription is only for users who are 18 years old or older and live in the European Union, European Economic Area, or Switzerland. At first, this subscription includes all connected Facebook and Instagram accounts. But Meta will start charging extra fees for connected accounts later on.
Starting from March 1st of next year, there will be an additional charge of EUR 6 for web users and EUR 8 for iOS and Android users per linked account.
Meta has not yet confirmed if the new paid tier will be available in other countries later on.
Elon Musk’s X recently introduced new Premium tiers that remove ads and provide extra features.
Some people might think that this move is similar to Meta’s introduction of its own subscription plans, but the connection between the two doesn’t seem very important.
