Adobe Illustrator now has a generative AI recolor feature

Adobe announced yesterday the release of Generative Recolor, a generative AI recolor feature for Illustrator. This feature has the ability to modify colors, themes, and fonts of graphics.

The Generative Recolor tool employs textual prompts to modify the colors, themes, and fonts of illustrations created by users. This represents the most recent inclusion among Adobe’s various generative AI tools and models.

The Generative Recolor tool utilizes Firefly technology to generate a visual representation of a scene or theme based on textual input. Subsequently, the system utilizes the color palettes extracted from the image to apply them to the user’s graphic, based on the mood or theme requested by the user.

According to Alexandru Costin, the Vice President of Generative AI at Adobe, it is believed that all content will undergo some form of generative editing in the near future.

A beta version of Generative Recolor is now available for Adobe Illustrator. At present, an official release date for the Generative Recolor feature has not been announced.

Adobe aims to expand its inventory by integrating data from Adobe Stock and creating models for 3D and video creation. It is unlikely that artificial intelligence will replace creatives. According to Costin, they will be competing with creative professionals who utilize artificial intelligence.
