GCash has just implemented a 2% convenience fee on Smart load purchases.
According to user reports, the 2% fee was implemented on November 23, 2022. GCash has not made an official declaration on this matter.
We attempted to load our Smart number with GCash and discovered that 2% is definitely added to the actual amount. This occurs when purchasing standard load. If it is for packages and promotions, prices vary but might be as little as Php1.00.
We also attempted to load our DITO SIM, but there were no fees associated with that one. It appears that only Smart account loading incurs the additional fees.
As depicted in this display, we chose DTIO as our telco but still submitted our Smart number, incurring no additional fees.
