Globe has reported that it finished the first nine months of 2022 with PHP 74.4 billion in capital expenditures (CAPEX), an increase of 14% over the same period last year, in order to meet the expanding connectivity needs of Filipinos.

At least 84% of this period’s entire cash CAPEX was committed to data requirements to improve the overall consumer data experience, according to Globe. These include additional LTE improvements, new 5G sites, tower construction, and the deployment of Fiber to the Home (FTTH).
Nationwide, the network investment has produced 1,064 new cell sites, 10,600 mobile sites upgraded to LTE, and 1,888 new 5G sites.
In addition, the telecommunications provider revealed that about 1.4 million FTTH connections had been implemented as of the end of September 2022, compared to over 1 million lines a year earlier.
“Globe’s network rollout momentum continues, and this year’s builds are likely to surpass those of previous year. These rapid network expansion and quality improvement initiatives will not only give a more consistent level of network quality, but also raise the country’s connection standard, according to Joel Agustin, Globe’s Head of Network Planning and Engineering.
In addition, Globe and its partners have been installing fiber optic lines in a number of provinces since July, on schedule to complete the major project by April 2023.
The USD 150 million Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) is the longest domestic subsea cable project in the Philippines, with 33 landing stations and a cable length of approximately 2,500 kilometers.
The project is viewed as providing connectivity essential to the nation’s recovery from the pandemic, as it will meet the rising demand for dependable communications facilities.
