Netflix announced a new feature on Tuesday that allows users to transfer their “personalized recommendations, viewing history, My List, saved games, and other settings” to a new account.

“People are moving. Families expand. Relationships fail. “However, your Netflix experience should remain consistent throughout these life changes,” Netflix stated in a press release.
Netflix, in essence, makes it less painful (and awkward) for people who share the same account to split up.
Instead of quietly locking someone out of an account or awkwardly informing them that they are being removed, Profile Transfer simply allows users to save their data to their own account. So they don’t have to start from scratch and can just pick up where they left off.
After months of testing in select countries, the aforementioned feature is now being rolled out globally, and users will be notified via email as soon as Profile Transfer is available.

Netflix Profile Transfer
- To transfer a profile, go to the “Transfer Profile” option when you hover over your profile icon in the dropdown menu on the homepage — then simply follow the instructions.
- You can disable Profile Transfer at any time in your account settings.
Previous reports revealed that Netflix lost nearly one million subscribers in the second quarter of 2022, and implementing such a feature could be a strategic move to increase its subscriber base.
