Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon 6 and 4 Gen 1 chipsets

Qualcomm has introduced two new mid-tier and mass-volume chipsets, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4nm) and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. (6nm).

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 includes a triple ISP, allowing a device to capture bright images from three cameras at the same time. Thanks to support for staggered HDR image sensors, users will be able to capture 108MP photos and record videos with computational HDR.

Other features include a 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine that delivers 3x better AI performance than its predecessor, 35% faster graphics rendering, up to 40% faster processing, HDR gaming at 60+fps, the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System for fast 5G connectivity, and Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 to deliver 22 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

When compared to the previous generation, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 offers up to 15% faster CPU and 10% faster GPU. It also has 108MP image capture, a Qualcomm AI Engine, a Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System, and FastConnect 6200 for premium 22 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 devices are expected to be commercially available in Q1 2023, while Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 devices are expected to be commercially available in Q3 2022.
