Microsoft rolls out the major update Windows 11 22H2

Microsoft began sending out the first annual feature update for Windows 11, dubbed ‘Version 22H2,’ on Tuesday, and it is currently accessible in over 190 countries.

The 22H2 upgrade includes numerous additions and improvements, design overhauls, and remedies to minor issues that Windows users were used to in previous versions of the operating system.

Let’s take a quick look at some of the major changes in Windows 11 22H2 Update.

Improvements on Windows Update

From now on, Microsoft will release feature upgrades with much reduced download sizes. The company also intends to release new features without requiring a big OS upgrade. In other words, outside of annual feature upgrades, Windows 11 receives new features more regularly.

File Explorer tabs

Users can now navigate the File Explorer using tabs, similar to how they would navigate a browser. Because numerous tabs with distinct directories can now be opened within File Explorer itself, this can potentially reduce the number of open windows when hitting Alt + Tab.

However, this feature will not be available until October.

Redesigned Task Manager

The Task Manager, like the Photos app in Windows 11, is getting a makeover to match the general appearance and feel of the OS.

Improved Touch Navigation

Those who own 2-in-1 PCs or tablets will benefit from improved navigation. Gestures have been introduced, such as swiping up to bring up the Start Menu, and swiping right to open the app list.

More Customizable Start Menu

The old has been reborn. Users may now organize app icons into folders and specify how much space Pinned or Recommended apps should take.

Fixed Taskbar Drag and Drop

This easy operation was eliminated in the first edition of Windows 11, causing some routines to be disturbed. The ability to drag files into taskbar icons has been restored.
