DITO Telecommunity successfully completed and passed its third obligatory performance review, which assessed population coverage and minimum average broadband speed.

In a recent announcement, the third telecoms player stated that it had received notification from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) that it had passed the needed technical audit for the third time.
According to the audit done by RG Manabat & Co., DITO exceeded its third-year goal of 70.01 percent population coverage and a minimum average speed of 55 Mbps (megabit per second).
DITO reported 72.39 percent population coverage and average speeds of 71.77 Mbps for 4G and 801.19 Mbps for 5G.
“We continue to uphold — and even surpass — our commitments to the government to increase speed and coverage in the telco industry and promote true competition to the advantage of Filipino customers,” DITO added.
“In this regard, we are appreciative for the enthusiastic support of our more than 12 million members as we stand by our goal to offer world-class connectivity to the Philippines,” the business noted.
DITO Telecommunity’s parent company announced that net losses attributable to parent company shareholders increased to P8.3 billion in the first half from P2.05 billion the previous year due to greater expenditures and expenses and foreign exchange losses.
Revenues, on the other hand, increased more than tenfold to P3.03 billion, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization increased by 26 percent to P2.79 billion. The topline statistics were bolstered by a 614 percent increase in DITO’s subscriber base to 9.64 million at the end of June.
DITO’s chief technology officer, Rodolfo Santiago, has stated that they were already in discussions with possible satellite service providers to enhance their service area.
In addition, Rodolfo stated that 7,000 to 7,500 towers would be built in order to attain 80 percent population coverage by the middle of 2023.
DITO Telecommunity plans to spend P50 billion this year to expand its services to over 840 locations around the country.
