Suppliers of iPhone 14 camera lenses are facing quality issues

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported on Twitter that supplier of Apple – Genius – is experiencing quality issues with the iPhone 14’s rear camera lenses.

According to the analyst, the rear lenses are now exhibiting coating-crack quality difficulties, which is why Apple is moving its 10 million lens orders to another supplier, Largan, a Taiwanese business, to avoid such shipment delays.

According to Kuo, Genius can resolve the coating-crack issue within two months; if not, Largan will receive further orders from Apple for their lenses.

The next Apple iPhone 14 series is expected to be released in September, with four variants: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. If all of the difficulties that they are now dealing with are fixed in a timely manner, there should be no delay in its release.

Addendum: According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s tweets, there was no further explanation for why some lenses have cracks due to coating.
