Nothing Phone (1) is confirmed to use a mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ chipset

InputMag’s story, which exclusively confirms that the Nothing Phone (1) will in fact include Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ processor, offers us a better idea of what to anticipate with the Nothing Phone (1) scheduled to go on sale by July 12 in an official capacity.

The Snapdragon 778G+ has an Adreno 642L GPU, an 8-core CPU with 4 performance and 4 efficiency cores, and an X53 5G modem, which is largely identical to the Snapdragon 778G chipset.

As shown by the plus sign (+) in the 778G+, the Nothing Phone (1) should support both wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

So why not go with the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1?

Co-founder of Nothing Carl Pei told Input that choosing the 778G+ was mostly done to strike a balance between performance, power usage, battery life, and price.

Going with the 778G+ would imply that Nothing could price the Phone (1) significantly lower than other flagship handsets; however, because leaks indicate that the Phone (1) would likely retail for less than $500, we’ll have to wait till the formal announcement to confirm this.
