Infinix to launch 180W Thunder Charge for its upcoming flagship smartphone

The upcoming flagship smartphone from Infinix will include the 180W Thunder Charge Technology, which can charge a 4,500mAh battery to 50% in just four minutes.

Infinix claims that the 180W Thunder Charge consumes batteries at a pace of 8C, as opposed to typical smartphone batteries, which charge at a rate of 1 to 3C. In addition to a multi-electrode lug that reduces internal resistance by more than 50% and results in reduced heat production, the 8C cell has lower internal resistance when compared to typical single electrode lug structures.

Thus, the risk of overheating from quick charging can be significantly decreased with the 180W Thunder Charge.

Additionally, because the 180W Thunder Charge connects two 8C-rated batteries in series, each cell’s charging power is reduced to just 90W, resulting in less heat and longer battery life.

To safeguard smartphones, chargers, and charging cords, the 180W Thunder Charge includes 111 hardware and software security protection methods. To ensure the safety of the smartphone’s system, the security protection is activated under abnormal circumstances, including high temperatures, increased voltage, electromagnetic interference, and more. Additionally, it features 20 temperature sensors spread throughout the device to track the temperature, including USB inputs, charging chips, on the battery, and other places.

A special encryption chip from Infinix is also integrated into the 180W Thunder Charge cable, which provides 180W power transmission for an incredibly quick charge. Additionally, the 180W Thunder Charge can intelligently determine the cable’s capability of transmitting power and adjust. The device recognizes the cable and restricts power to 60W/100W to ensure a secure charge if a different cable without Infinix’s unique encryption chip is placed into it.

Finally, there are two distinct charging modes on the 180W Thunder Charge: Furious Mode and Standard Mode. With the push of a button, customers can switch into furious mode, which provides 180W of lightning-fast charging.

Infinix will release new devices with 180W Thunder Charge in the second half of 2022.
