In an effort to protect the public from fraud and scams, Globe has just disclosed that from January to June 15 of this year, they blocked more than 138 million spam and scam messages.

According to Globe, the amount of spam that was filtered out peaked in May 2022 at 74.48 million messages. Through Globe’s Stop Spam web portal, in addition to blocking messages, 12,877 mobile numbers associated with customer spamming from January to May were also deactivated.
Although many Filipinos adapted quickly to the digital world, Globe Chief Information Security Officer Anton Bonifacio noted that. With numerous attacks and the pandemic acting as a “force multiplier,” this has regrettably made the cybersecurity landscape “bleaker.”

He continued by saying that in addition to stepping up Globe’s efforts to filter spam messages, he was very grateful for the public’s continued vigilance in informing them of these unwanted messages via their reporting portal.
In order to increase its capacity to prevent attacks and protect its customers, Globe began investing in tools to improve its cybersecurity in 2014. With more than 100 employees working solely on cybersecurity, Globe has a 24-hour security operations center that can quickly identify and stop attacks.
“We cannot enable the Filipino digital lifestyle without cybersecurity. Customer protection is our top priority. So we have been investing millions of dollars on systems and processes to combat security threats even without any promise of a return on investment. After all, the biggest ROI are the peace of mind and safety of our customers,” – Anton Bonifacio, Globe Chief Information Security Officer
With their #MakeITsafePH campaign, Globe continues to urge the public to be vigilant and informed about pertinent information to protect themselves, even though they have invested millions in enhancing their cybersecurity.
The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, especially SDG No. 9, have received strong support from Globe. which entails “building resilient infrastructure, fostering innovation, and advancing sustainable industrialization.”
You can report any scam messages you encounter on the Globe network at https://www.globe.com.ph/stop-spam.html. Additionally, the reporting form is accessible through all other agent-assisted channels, the GlobeOne App, Facebook Messenger, and Globe.
