Hunter x Hunter, one of the most popular shonen manga series of all time, has been reported to be returning after a tweet allegedly from the series’ author, Yoshihiro Togashi, went viral.
A Tweet from a new Twitter account has gone viral in the Japanese Twitter community. The Tweet’s caption reads, “4 more chapters for the time being,” and it includes a side image of a piece of paper that appears to be a preliminary drawing of a manga panel. Togashi sensei has completed six new Hunter x Hunter chapters, according to the Tweet, and is now working on four more. The post received over 200k likes in just a few hours, but because the account was only recently created, there was no way of knowing whether it belonged to the Hunter x Hunter creator until it was confirmed by One Punch Man author.
Yasuke Murata, the author of One Punch Man, follows this Twitter handle, which lends legitimacy to this Tweet. They also reposted the tweet, writing, “I was with the individual myself.”
The retweet above very much guarantees that the Hunter x Hunter manga series will return. The exact publishing date for the new manga chapters has not yet been confirmed. However, we now know from the Tweet that at least ten additional chapters will be released. The Hunter x Hunter manga went on hiatus in 2018, meaning the last new chapter was almost four years ago. Even if Togashi only returns for a few more chapters, this is still exciting news for fans. Naturally, there is still no word on when the anime series will return.
Because of Togashi’s health difficulties, the popular manga series has previously taken several vacations. For years, the series’ author has suffered from persistent, debilitating back pain, which has limited his ability to sketch.
Since March 1998, the Hunter x Hunter manga has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. Mad House adapted Hunter x Hunter into an anime series, which aired for 148 episodes from October 2011 to September 2014. On My Anime List, approximately 1.2 million fans have given Hunter x Hunter a 9.08 rating.

Hunter x Hunter story focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss who discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is actually a world-renowned Hunter, a licensed professional who specializes in fantastical pursuits such as locating rare or unidentified animal species, treasure hunting, surveying unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals. Gon departs on a journey to become a Hunter and eventually find his father. Along the way, Gon meets various other Hunters and encounters the paranormal.
