Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank), a digital banking pioneer, has entered Metaverse in collaboration with Filipino blockchain startup ‘Ark of Dreams’ (AoD).
“This collaboration with Ark of Dreams gives us yet another opportunity to forge forward in our pursuit of tech-ing up [sic] the Philippines and reinforcing our commitment to deliver superior customer experience across channels; and now, even the Metaverse!” UnionBank’s Chief Technology & Operations Officer and Chief Transformation Officer, Henry R. Aguda, stated.
“We wanted to develop a virtual experience that is both interesting and immersive while also being connected to the real world.” That means interacting with their favorite businesses while using e-Commerce services and earning incentives and perks on the platform that can be redeemed in the real world. “We look forward to a long-term cooperation with UnionBank to give value to our community and to continue developing in this field,” said AoD founder Jason dela Rosa.
Through collaborative ideation and co-creation of experiences and products between AoD, UnionBank, and the SME community, the alliance aims to familiarize everyone with Metaverse.
“With this agreement, there are limitless opportunities to serve the entire ecosystem through the integration of a suite of financial services with UnionBank’s innovations fused with the principles of Blockchain technology through a gamified NFT platform called Ark of Dreams.” “Our imagination is our only restriction,” stated AoD CEO Angeline Chii Viray.
Ark of Dreams is a decentralized blockchain-based shared human experience NFT game that operates on the Binance Smart Chain and uses the ‘Arkonia’ ($AOD) tokens for real-world transactions.
Exchange of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), social events and games, virtual world exploration, online purchasing and activities tied to brands and iconography are all ways to interact within AoD.
UnionBank is now the first Philippine bank in the Metaverse, which implies that its services will be available within the Metaverse, starting with the virtual environment of the Ark of Dreams.
In addition, the Binance Academy defines Metaverse as “a idea of a permanent, online, 3D universe that integrates numerous diverse virtual places.” It’s also known as Web 3.0, because it allows users to engage in 3D spaces.
