Google announces new layout for Gmail

Google recently announced that a redesigned version of Gmail will be available later this month. The company is introducing a new integrated view for Gmail, which will make it easier to navigate between applications such as GMail, Chat, and Meet in a single centralized location.

Users can now easily switch between their inbox, important conversations, and meetings without switching between tabs or opening a new window. Google is also introducing notification bubbles to help users stay on top of what requires their immediate attention.

When users are working in Chat and Spaces, they can view an entire list of conversations and Spaces on a single screen, making it easier to navigate to and engage with them.

Additionally, users will be able to view the complete set of Mail and Label options currently available in Gmail.

Users will also be able to see email and chat results when using the search bar in the coming months, simplifying the process of locating what they need by eliminating the need to search within a specific product.

Gmail’s new layout will begin rolling out on February 8, with users able to opt-in to test the new experience. Users can still revert to the classic Gmail interface via the settings menu. By the end of the second quarter of 2022, this will have become the default Gmail experience, with no way to revert. Simultaneously, users will begin to notice the new, streamlined navigation experience on Chat web.

Google Workspace Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, Frontline, and Nonprofit customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers, will have access to these new features.
