Quill, a messaging platform, has declared its intention to join Twitter.
Quill Chat is a team collaboration and communication messaging tool that competes with other productivity messaging services such as Slack. The acquisition is intended to improve Twitter DMs’ competitiveness with rival messaging systems.
Quill will be shutting down, and customers will be able to export their team chat history until December 11, 2021, when they will turn off their servers and delete all data, according to the firm. On the other hand, Quill has stated that they will issue full refunds to all active teams.
“We founded Quill with the intention of improving the quality of human conversation.” We believe that the communication tools we use today are not the best they can be. We will continue to pursue our original mission — to make online conversation more intelligent and productive for everyone — in collaboration with Twitter,” Quill stated in a brief notice on its website.
Meanwhile, Nick Caldwell, Twitter’s General Manager for Core Tech, described Quill as a “fresher, more intentional method to communicate” in a twitter thread announcing the acquisition. We’re bringing their expertise and creativity to Twitter as we try to make messaging capabilities like DMs a more effective and expressive way for people to communicate on the platform.”
