Meralco introduces new integrated ICT command center

Meralco has announced the creation of a new command and control center, the Operations Platform and Telecommunications Integrated Command Center (OPTIC), which will oversee all ICT services.

The OPTIC improves distribution utility resiliency and service reliability by providing real-time application, IT network, and communication link outage alerts to support teams for immediate restoration. With the pandemic encouraging customers to rely on digital touchpoints, the OPTIC improves distribution utility resiliency and service reliability by providing real-time application, IT network, and communication link outage alerts to support teams for immediate restoration.

The new smart features are safe, secure, and long-lasting. The command center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and features an industrial-grade, energy-efficient LED display wall as well as a smart, audible alarm system for alerts and issues.

“The new OPTIC is a smart communications and response coordination platform that encompasses and services all of our facilities, operations, and people.” This platform is critical to Meralco’s everyday operations management, resulting in increased efficiency, greater event mitigation and response capabilities, and consistent and reliable services for our customers and employees. This is especially important now, given the pandemic’s high reliance on technology,” said Rocky D. Bacani, Meralco Vice President and Head of Information Communication Technology and Transformation.

“Meralco’s OPTIC revolutionizes how data is gathered and used to carefully monitor our mission-critical systems in real-time, proactively identify and fix issues, make intelligent operational and business decisions, and remove barriers to collaboration.” We’re delighted because the command center’s opening creates the framework for us to extend technology and enable new innovations, which will ultimately lead to exceptional service that delights our consumers,” Espinosa added.
