DITO Telecommunity, the third telco, is on track to reach the 5-million subscriber mark by the end of the year, according to its parent company DITO CME.

DITO CME said in a filing to the stock exchange that it now has a presence in 500 cities and municipalities, with over 3,300 towers operational.
In November, DITO surpassed 4 million subscribers. In March of this year, it began commercial operations for the first time.
Last month, DITO Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano stated that the company’s goal is to reach 5 million subscribers by the end of 2021.
The third major player, which is building a network to challenge Globe Telecom and PLDT’s Smart Communications duopoly, has passed two technical audits so far.
“DITO Telecommunity has been able to quickly roll out its network in order to offer fast, reliable, and far-reaching telecommunication services to Filipino consumers in a short period of time,” DITO CME Chairman Dennis Uy said.
“We’re following through on that promise,” he added.
According to the company, it has laid over 19,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable.
DITO Telecommunity has a 25-year franchise that runs until the year 2048.
