With the help of AirAsia Super App’s technology FACES, AirAsia Philippines will implement an instant facial verification system in Q1 2022.

In November 2021, the AirAsia Super App introduced the world’s first facial recognition technology. According to AirAsia, this provides users with enhanced convenience, security, and safety for all of their travel and lifestyle needs, in addition to a fully digital and contactless journey on AirAsia flights. The FACES App will primarily be used for boarding and check-ins on flights.
FACES will now make the AirAsia Super App the one-stop-shop that instantly identifies customers via instant facial recognition, allowing them to order and pay for a variety of travel and lifestyle offerings all in one app.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Limited; Amanda Woo, CEO of AirAsia Super App; Pablo Sanz Salcedo, Chief Product & Technology Officer of AirAsia; Javed Malik, Chief Operating Officer of AirAsia Group; and Captain Chester Voo Chee Soon, CEO of Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia officially launched this technology today at RedSation, KL Sentral (CAAM).
“Facial technology is already changing our daily lives, as evidenced by the simple unlocking of our phones.” While other companies may be releasing similar technology, ours is truly a world first because it opens the door to much more than just air travel,” said Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group.
