TikTok has improved its app experience with yet another security update, this time aimed at protecting its younger users. Better and tighter privacy settings for children’s accounts are included in the update, limiting who can interact with them on the app.

Videos created by accounts under the age of 16 are no longer available for download. These videos can no longer be used in the Duet and Stitch features of the app. Only friends of users between the ages of 13 and 15 will be able to comment on their videos. By default, only friends will be able to use their videos for Duets and Stitching on accounts held by users aged 16 to 18.

Only accounts of users aged 16 and up will be able to host live streams on the app. TikTok also limits users under the age of 18 from purchasing, sending, or receiving virtual gifts.
These new features are in addition to the app’s existing safety features, such as Family Pairing, Screen Time Management, and Restricted Viewing Mode.
