Spotify has now announced the global rollout of their real-time lyrics function. Spotify Lyrics, powered by Musixmatch, will provide users with real-time access to song lyrics.
To access the lyrics, iOS and Android users simply swipe up from a tune. Users can also extend to fill the entire screen. Spotify, like a karaoke machine, may highlight the current lyrics of a song as it scrolls.
Lyrics can be accessed on desktop by clicking the microphone icon in the “Now Playing” view, while Android TV will have a lyrics button in the right corner of the “Now Playing” view.
Users will also be able to share lyrics across platforms by picking the lyrics and hitting the share symbol at the bottom of the screen. This function is available on all Spotify versions, even the free one. As part of the upgrade, Spotify is also removing the Behind The Lyrics function.
