Globe completes sites upgrades, expands 5G coverage in VisMin

As of September 2021, Globe has completed site upgrades of its 3G legacy network to 4G LTE in Bacolod City, Boracay, Iloilo City, and Cagayan de Oro. Furthermore, the telco installed 5G towers in these strategic locations, including popular tourist destinations in Malay, Aklan.

In Cagayan de Oro, 180 site upgrades have been completed, with 5G coverage now available in 30 key locations throughout the city.

Globe has expanded 84 sites and built 13 5G towers in Bacolod City, while 111 sites have been upgraded and 11 locations are now covered by 5G in Iloilo City.

The company has modernized its 32 sites in Boracay, including Balabag, Manoc-Manoc, and Yapak. The three barangays now have 5G coverage, with Manoc-Manoc having two 5G towers.

“Globe customers in Bacolod City, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo City now have access to high-speed internet, clearer calls, and a stable mobile network thanks to the 4G LTE network.” “We also made 5G available in these four locations so that they can take full advantage of the technology’s potential and opportunities,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

Customers across the country are encouraged to check if their SIM cards are 4G-capable in order to fully enjoy the benefits of 4G. Customers on Globe postpaid and prepaid can check their SIM status by texting SIM CHECK to 8080. Additionally, those who are still using 2G/3G SIM cards can bring them to any Globe Store for a free upgrade to 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM cards, as long as quarantine protocols allow it. Customers with postpaid mobile plans can also use the GlobeOne App to request a SIM swap.
