More Globe MSME, Enterprise Accounts Now on VoLTE/VoWiFi

Almost all of Globe‘s business accounts can now be provisioned with Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice Over WiFi (VoWiFi) services, thanks to the company’s relentless efforts to bring the latest technology to improve customers’ mobile experiences.

As of July, 97 percent of the company’s micro, small, and medium-sized business (MSME) accounts were using VoLTE-capable smartphones. It was a substantial improvement over the 69 percent recorded in June. Globe hopes to have VoLTE/VoWiFi on all of its business postpaid lines by the end of the year.

Furthermore, the average dropped call rate for VoLTE and VoWiFi has improved to 0.97 percent and 0.49 percent, respectively, from 1.90 percent and 1.87 percent in June.

Globe has already provided VoLTE and VoWiFi to 98 percent of its Enterprise or large corporate customers. VoLTE is now used by one out of every two consumers.

In June, both services’ average dropped call rates improved to 0.9 percent, down from 1.93 percent for VoLTE and 1.02 percent for VoWiFi in June.

These results are far superior than standard switch-on calls for both MSME and enterprise customers.

“Our corporate clients rely on connectivity. Through our dependable VoLTE and VoWiFi services, we help them to develop and thrive in these trying times,” stated Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, Globe Chief Commercial Officer.

Instead of the traditional voice networks used by 2G and 3G, VoLTE is the standard high-speed wireless connection for mobile phones using 4G LTE.

VoLTE has a number of advantages over traditional voice services on 2G and 3G networks. It has three times the voice capacity of 3G and up to six times that of 2G, allowing the network to handle more consumers placing calls at the same time, allowing for faster call setup, clearer sound quality, and fewer dropped calls.

Clients can also use VoLTE to connect to the internet while on the phone.

Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), also known as WiFi Calling, is a complement to VoLTE that helps with indoor mobile coverage issues like voice calls that are affected by the distance between the mobile phone and the nearest network tower, building walls that block wireless signals, and poor signal inside a home or building. VoWiFi can alleviate these worries, depending on the capacity and signal strength of their WiFi service and the presence of a VoWiFi-capable mobile phone. Customers can use their existing WiFi connection to make phone calls.

VoLTE and VoWiFi calls work the same way as conventional calls and are charged the same way (unli VoLTE and VoWiFi calls apply if registered to a Globe unli call promo). VoWiFi is also compatible with any WiFi network.

“As we near full adoption for all of our business accounts and partners in the coming months, we will continue to evaluate performance and offer progress updates,” Cabreira added.
