According to global market solutions business Strategy Analytics, Inc., vivo has been named the top 5G smartphone provider in Asia Pacific in Q2 2021.

According to Strategy Analytics‘ most recent analysis, vivo leads Asia Pacific 5G shipments in the said quarter for the first time.
“With annual sales growth of 215 percent, vivo is the largest [5G] smartphone vendor in Asia Pacific,” says Yiwen Wu, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics.
The brand tops the pack with 20.0 percent of 5G shipments, followed by Xiaomi (19.3 percent), OPPO (18.7 percent), Apple (18.5%), and Samsung (6.6 percent).
“Over the last year, Vivo has surpassed Xiaomi, OPPO, and Apple to claim the top rank in 5G smartphones. Vivo has taken advantage of Huawei’s collapse, which sold more than half of all 5G handsets in the Asia Pacific area in the previous quarter but has since essentially disappeared from the market. Vivo’s smartphones, such as the iQOOO U3 5G and iQOOO 7 5G, have become the most popular 5G devices in the region due to their mix of cutting-edge technology and low prices,” Wu added.
Furthermore, according to Strategy Analytics, 5G smartphone shipments in Asia Pacific have more than doubled in the last year (up 110 percent annually). They also pointed out that three of the region’s top five 5G smartphone providers in terms of shipments were Chinese companies.
