Globe Continues 5G Expansion; Builds

Globe’s well-thought-out plan of deploying its 5G network in important cities around Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao will provide users with good and dependable 5G services.

In comparison to 4G, 5G wireless internet connectivity offers faster speeds, higher bandwidth, and more consistent internet connections. By July 2021, the corporation will have expanded its 5G coverage to over 1,800 important areas across the country.

“With the various issues we are now facing, coverage continuity is our top concern. To accomplish this, we must maximize the locations of our current 5G network installations. In the next months, these strategic deployments will lead to more realistic and viable rollouts. “We aim to give our customers a better experience with the latest technology and 5G-capable devices as soon as possible,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.

Globe’s unrelenting development has resulted in at least 94 percent of the National Capital Region now having Globe 5G outside service, with Makati and Pateros having 100 percent coverage. Marikina comes in second with 99 percent coverage, followed by Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Caloocan with 98 percent coverage, and San Juan with 97 percent.

When it comes to Commercial Business Districts, or CBDs, Ortigas CBD has the maximum 5G coverage (98%) followed by Makati CBD and BGC CBD, both of which currently have 98 percent 5G coverage.

5G is already available in 85 percent of Cebu City, 77 percent of Boracay Island, 75 percent of Bacolod City, and 66 percent of Iloilo City in the Visayas.

In Mindanao, 5G is presently available in 77 percent of Davao City and 80 percent of Cagayan De Oro City. Efforts are also underway to construct seven new 5G cell towers in General Santos City, as well as four more in Zamboanga City.

“The goal of making more customers, particularly in Visayas and Mindanao, truly experience the benefits and take advantage of the potential that 5G presents will constantly encourage us to push harder and deliver more to other locations,” Agustin added.
