Facebook's Transfer Your Information tool now includes improved data portability features

Facebook has made several changes to its “Transfer Your Information” (TYI) tool to make data portability easier for its users.

These upgrades will include user experiences for two new destinations: Photobucket and Google Calendar and one new data type: Facebook Events, according to Facebook. To be more specific, the latest upgrade focuses on:

• A more simple experience, allowing users to understand which destinations and data formats are supported quickly.

• Greater clarity about each transfer’s status, including the ability to retry particular transfers.

• The ability to start numerous data transfers for a single destination at the same time.

• Filters that allow consumers to pick and choose which data they want to send.

Facebook also stated that it is working with developers to extend the sorts of data and destinations available. They continue to demand government regulation to set explicit guidelines on who is accountable for securing user data both during and after it is transmitted to ensure that data is safe both during and after it is moved.
