The Kompanio 1300T SoC, which is constructed on a 6nm technology and developed for premium tablets with 5G, multimedia, AI, and gaming capabilities, has been introduced by MediaTek.
The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T processor is based on TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing technology and features an octa-core CPU with high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and low-power Arm Cortex-A55 cores. Furthermore, its nine-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU provides superior compute speed and excellent frame rates. The rest of the characteristics are listed below:
• MediaTek’s APU (AI processing unit) provides powerful, energy-efficient AI computing capacity for the newest speech and visual applications.
• Integrates 5G technology, including support for all 5G sub-6GHz bands, 5G-2CA, and Dual 5G SIM, as well as 5G Elevator Mode and 5G HSR Mode upgrades.
• Supports 2.5K screens with up to 120 Hz refresh rates, HDR10+ video playback, and MediaTek’s MiraVision technology and eye protection engine, which can intelligently adjust picture qualities like hue saturation, brightness, sharpness, resolution, and frame rate for increased visual quality.
• 108MP cameras, 4K 60fps video encoding, and decoding, chip-level staggered 4K HDR video recording, Multi-Depth Smart Focus, and AI-Clear Streaming enable multi-camera designs.
• Enables AI-powered voice assistants and has a voice-on-wakeup (VoW) feature that consumes very little power.
• Includes MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 and gaming enhancements for networks, controls, performance, power efficiency, and image quality.
• Full band support for 5G Sub-6GHz and 2CC Carrier Aggregation (2CC CA), Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 for 5G Sub-6GHz and 2CC Carrier Aggregation (2CC CA), Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2.
The Kompanio chips, according to MediaTek, are now widely used by various device manufacturers and power several top-selling personal computing devices, including Chromebooks and tablets. In the third quarter of 2021, tablet computers based on the Kompanio 1300T platform are planned to be introduced.
