LG Electronics (LG) has just announced the new LG TONE Free FP series earbuds for 2021. The lineup includes an improved in-ear fit, Meridian-tuned sound, active noise cancellation, and a UVnano charging case in two of the three models introduced.
The LG Tone Free FP9, FP8, and FP5 are among the most recent additions to the lineup.
LG worked with a leading design technology lab to analyze hundreds of subjects’ ears, resulting in what they call Arc Design, which has an earbud stem that is 4.4 millimeters shorter than previous models to create the “perfect balance and fit for an active lifestyle.” The IPX4 rating of the FP series protects the earbuds from sweat and light rain.
Meridian Audio’s Headphone Spatial Processing is included in the lineup, which provides the listener with sound coming from all directions. 3D Sound Stage is another new feature that adds to the series’ lifelike audio experience. New silicone-edged drivers and diaphragms allow for greater flexibility and movement and more powerful bass without sacrificing clarity or detail.
Each earbud has three microphones for a more explicit call experience. The all-new Whispering Mode enhances call privacy and clarity by utilizing the right earbud as a dedicated microphone by holding it close to the user’s mouth. On two of the three models, the earbuds also have active noise cancellation, eliminating low-frequency sounds that cannot be completely blocked passively.
LG has also introduced the industry’s first auto-cleaning UVnano charging case to keep listeners’ ear tips clean and reduce the risk of inner ear infections. According to LG, when charging wired or wirelessly, this reduces bacteria on the speaker mesh by 99.9 percent in just five minutes. They also include medical-grade hypoallergenic ear gels to reduce the risk of ear canal skin irritation.
LG’s new TWS earbuds also allow for simple compatibility by utilizing the charging case as a wireless dongle. Users can easily pair the FP series with any device by plugging the case into a smartphone, gaming console, or any other USB-C to AUX cable.
You can also pair the earbuds with the free TONE app to access additional earbud customizations such as Ambient Sound mode, touch control customization, and Find My Earbuds to help locate your earbuds when they are lost or misplaced.
The new LG TONE Free FP series will be available in key markets starting this month in colors such as Charcoal Black and Pearl White, with the FP8 and FP9 also available in Haze Gold.
