Instagram introduces Sensitive Content Control

Facebook is releasing Sensitive Content Control on Instagram, allowing users to control how much sensitive content appears in their Explore pages. The new function allows users to decide what type of sensitive content is exposed and how much of it is available.

Its purpose is to filter the content that a user sees in their Explore section. Instagram has a set of criteria for what content is permitted on the platform, and hate speech and bullying are explicitly prohibited. According to Instagram, some posts may not violate rules, such as those that are sexually suggestive or violent, thus they are offering this new configuration to allow users to filter such content in your Explore.

The setting may be found under Sensitive Content Control in your Instagram Account settings. The filter is configured to limit by default, and it is up to the user to adjust the configuration to “Allow” or “Limit Even More.” Users under the age of 18 are not permitted to use the “Allow” option.

This feature, according to Instagram, is in keeping with their efforts to safeguard users and add privacy to their social media platforms, such as providing tools to filter objectionable Direct Messages and protect children from adults online.
