Globe Installs 212 New Cell Sites in the National Capital Region, Notes Improved Services for Metro Manila Customers

Globe’s plan to develop additional new cell towers is on track, with 212 new cell sites installed in Metro Manila in the first half of 2021.

Despite the hurdles posed by quarantine and health standards in the NCR, the company maintained momentum in the development of critical ICT infrastructure to improve mobile and internet services.

“We are very optimistic that these new cell sites will significantly improve our customers’ mobile experiences as a connection becomes an increasingly important aspect of their daily lives. We are aware of their issues and are working hard to address them as soon as possible. These upgrades would undoubtedly improve mobile experience not only in Metro Manila but also in neighboring provinces,” said Globe SVP for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, Joel Agustin.

More installations have also been made in Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Laguna, Cebu, Bulacan, and Pampanga due to Globe’s network deployment activities since January.

In Cavite, at least 39 additional towers have been built in strategic sites around the province. In Rizal, 26 new cell sites have been installed, and in Batangas and Laguna, 25 new cell sites have been established. For the first half of the year, at least 17 additional cell sites were erected in Cebu, Bulacan, and Pampanga.

According to Agustin, similar efforts are also happening in other areas, not just in Luzon but also in Visayas and Mindanao.

According to Ookla®, Globe’s constant efforts to improve its connectivity have resulted in it having the most consistent mobile network for two consecutive quarters in 2021.

The carrier remains ahead of the competition in terms of nationwide mobile consistency. In Q1 2021, the Consistency Score was 70.43, while in Q2 2021, it was 75.981.
