According to Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data, Globe’s 5G network is the most available’ to users on 5G compatible devices in Q1 2021. 1 This indicator depicts the percentage of 5G-enabled device users who spend most of their time on a 5G network.

The Ookla data highlights Globe’s expanding 5G coverage, allowing consumers to stay connected to the network for considerably longer than the competitors.

Compared to 4G, 5G wireless internet connectivity offers faster speeds, greater bandwidth, and more consistent internet connections.

Globe was the first mobile operator in Southeast Asia to commercially introduce 5G AirFiber for Home usage in 2019, making it the Philippines’ 5G technological pioneer.

According to Globe’s most recent report, at least 88 percent of the National Capital Region now has Globe 5G outdoor coverage. Bonifacio Global City CBD and Ortigas CBD have similar 97 percent coverage. Pateros is fourth with 92 percent coverage, while Makati CBD is third with 96 percent coverage. Globe’s 5G network is also available in 13 cities in Metro Manila, with at least 82 percent coverage.

5G service is already available in 81% of Cebu City, 68% of Boracay Island, 67% of Bacolod City, and 53% of Iloilo City.

5G is already available in 73 percent of Davao City and 72 percent of Cagayan De Oro City in Mindanao. In addition, six new 5G cell towers are being built in General Santos.

Cabreira continued, “We expect more installations of 5G cell sites for the remaining six months of the year as the demand for 5G technology will continue to rise even further,”

Globe’s rapid network expansion and upgrade to 4G LTE, and 5G has led to better service users across the country. As a result, the globe continues to be the undisputed leader in mobile network consistency in the Philippines, according to Ookla’s Q1 2021 statistics, with a national consistency score of 70.43 percent, which is greater than its competitors. Globe also has the greatest mobile consistency scores in the following regions, according to Ookla data: Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, Ilocos Region, Eastern Visayas, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Cagayan Valley, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
