Globe Telecom said Wednesday that a guy involved in the unlawful rebranding and tampering of Globe At Home modems was “arrested” by authorities in Cavite for violating the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998.

According to the telco’s statement, the suspect was discovered unlawfully selling “openline DITO modems” on several Facebook community groups.
Consumers have been alerted about unlawfully rebranded Globe At Home modems being offered as DITO Telecommunity Devices by Globe Telecom.
In a sting operation in Pala-Pala, Brgy. Sampaloc Dasmarinas Cavite, Globe, and the police “seized a unit of Globe At Home Tozed S10g modem rebranded with DITO stickers” from a 33-year-old suspect, the telco claimed.
In the Philippines, Globe claims to be the only authorized distributor of Tozed S10G modems.
“The telco is taking the appropriate actions to safeguard its consumers from illicit activity involving its products and devices,” it stated.
Consumers can report “suspicious” activity to the Department of Trade and Industry, according to Globe.
DITO previously said that it does not have modem devices on the market. It also cautioned users against using unofficial pocket WiFi hotspots.
