DITO Telecommunity, the country’s third telco, announced on Wednesday that it had hit the one-million subscriber mark just three months after its formal start.

The telco, run by a Dennis Uy-led consortium in partnership with China Telecom, went live on March 8 in Davao and Cebu, followed by Luzon.
“Reaching 1 million subscribers in 3 months is a feat that all of us at DITO are certainly proud of. I would like to thank everyone who has been part of our journey,” Adel Tamano, DITO’s chief administrative officer, stated.
DITO announced that the first 1 million users would each receive 1GB of data to commemorate the occasion.
“Please stay tuned in the coming days,” Tamano stated, “as we will give further details on how to collect your free 1GB rewards.”
As of June 12, DITO is officially available in 123 cities and municipalities across the United States.
The Philippine Competition Commission has stated that breaking the duopoly of Globe Telecom and PLDT Inc will be favorable to consumers.
On July 8, DITO will undertake its second-year audit, which needs a 51-percent population coverage.
