AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series Mobile GPU Now Official

The formal introduction of AMD’s new Radeon RX 6000M mobile GPU family for laptops was also made during today’s speech. The new mobile GPU series is based on the brand’s current 7nm, RDNA2 architectures, just like its desktop counterparts.

The RX 6000M is made up of three separate GPUs: the RX 6800M sits at the top, the RX 6700M occupies the center, and the RX 6600M serves as the entry-level GPU.

The RX 6800M is the most powerful of the three, with 12GB GDDR6 graphics RAM, 40 Compute Units (CUs) and Ray Accelerators, a game clock of 2.3GHz at full throttle, and a 96MB Infinity Cache, as you might expect. When connected with an AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile CPU, the GPU supports both Smart Access Memory (SAM) and Smartshift, as it is an AMD product.

The 6800M isn’t quite ready to rule the 4K sector in terms of raw gaming performance, but AMD deserves credit for establishing reasonable expectations, aiming for maximum graphics settings at 1440p with this mobile GPU, which is more than enough for us.

The ASUS ROG Strix G15 “AAA” Edition gaming laptop will be the first to feature the 6800M. The laptop also has an AMD Rzyen 9 5900HX CPU, which is cooled using Liquid Metal and vapour chamber technology, in addition to the 6800M.

Moving on, the RX 6700M is the midpoint between the three mobile GPUs. The mobile GPU contains a 2.3GHz game clock, 10GB GDDR6 memory, 36 CUs and Ray Accelerators, an 80MB Infinity Cache, and a 10GB GDDR6 memory. The 6800M is meant to allow gamers to play their favorite triple-A game at 1440p resolution with the highest graphical settings, while the 6700M, predictably, dials it back. By allowing gamers to play at 1440p while using the second or third highest graphics settings available in each game.

The entry-level RX 6600M is last on the list. On paper, this mobile GPU features 8GB of GDDR6 RAM, 28 CUs and Ray Accelerators, a 32MB Infinity Cache, and a 2.18GHz game clock. Unlike the 6800M, which is designed to allow laptops to run at 1440p with all graphical settings maxed up, the 6600M is aimed at gamers who are quite fine with Full HD resolution gaming. While keeping their favorite game’s graphics settings at their maximum.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800M and RX 6600M graphics cards are now available. While the ASUS Strix G15 “AAA” Edition has the 6800M, the RX 6600M will be available initially through the HP Omen 16. There is still no indication on whether or not the 6700M will be available at the time of writing.
