Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), a PLDT wireless unit, launches 5G roaming services in Thailand with True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd. (True), expanding 5G roaming availability to 15 countries and 21 partners worldwide.

True is Thailand’s only fully integrated telecommunications provider, providing mobile, broadband internet, television, content, and digital and other telecommunications services.
Smart’s partnership with True enables customers in Thailand to use their Smart 5G-ready SIM and 5G-capable device to access Smart’s worry-free 5G roaming services. Prepaid and postpaid customers can sign up for the GigaRoam Thailand data pack, including 100GB of data for only P1,299/10 days. Roamers can discover and subscribe to roaming data plans by visiting roam.smart.com.ph or downloading the GigaLife app.

True and Smart are also members of the CONEXUS Mobile Alliance, a group of nine Asian telcos that are at the forefront of providing innovative, customer-friendly services to their respective customers who frequently travel for business.
CONEXUS and Smart have jointly led initiatives that have contributed to the industry’s growth in the region and are currently chaired by PLDT Global CEO and International and Carrier Business Katrina Luna-Abelarde.
Smart is the first mobile network operator in the Philippines to offer the most extensive 5G roaming service with telco leaders in key markets.
Smart recently partnered with Sunrise in Switzerland; SmarTone and Hong Kong Telecommunications in Hong Kong; Pelephone in Israel; Turkcell in Turkey; Ooredoo and STC in Kuwait; StarHub in Singapore; NTT Docomo in Japan; Vodafone in Australia; Zain Kuwait, Zain Saudi Arabia, and Zain Bahrain; China Mobile and China Unicom in China; Etisalat and du in the United Arab Emirates; and China Mobile and China Unicom in China.
Smart remains at the forefront of the 5G revolution in the Philippines as the country’s first mobile network operator to roll out a comprehensive 5G roaming series of partnerships with industry leaders in key markets. More than 2,300 Smart 5G sites have been activated at strategic locations across the country, including all of Metro Manila’s cities and municipalities, as well as the provinces of Benguet, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, Misamis Oriental, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Davao.
PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, which will be more than 429,000 kilometers long by December 2020, will support Smart’s 5G network.
