Ookla: Philippines is now ranks 83rd in Mobile Internet Speed for February 2021

The internet speed of the Philippines’ broadband and mobile data continues to improve for February 2021, according to the recent Speedtest Global Index by Ookla. The country currently ranks 83rd on mobile and 92nd in fixed broadband globally.

The speed test conducted in February 2021 found that it increased three spots in the global ranking for mobile internet. The average mobile download speed conducted in February 2021 was 26.24 Mbps, more than in January 2021, which is 25.77Mbps.
The upload speed and latency for mobile internet are 6.42 Mbps and 31 ms. The Philippines is now ranked 83rd, which was then at 86th.

In fixed broadband, the Philippines is now ranked 92nd from the previous rank of 100th. Based on the data, the speed test in February was 38.46 Mbps from 32.73 Mbps in January 2021. The upload speed and latency in February was 36.96 Mbps and a latency of 23 ms based on the data.

We can see the improvement of internet speed here in the Philippines. This improvement is due to their investment in building infrastructure development.

However, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported that it has been collaborating with other agencies to advance standards that assist telcos with the deployment of cellular towers. As a result, the number of cellular towers increased significantly from July 2020 to January 2021, totaling 3,211 new towers.
